Last Minute Details

With a little over 20 days before Spirit is officially ours, and we depart Ipswich for the almost 1,900 nm journey to the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, the Oyster commissioning team is tending to all kinds of last minute details. Some of the most important  details are sea trials – making sure all systems are “go” under sailing conditions.

Not only is Spirit in the midst of extensive quality control, so are things like our tender – our “taxi ” to get us ashore, take us snorkeling or explore what destinations have to offer.

Every year at the end of April Oyster Yachts has a Private Viewing of their latest yachts at St. Katharine’s Docks in London – a beautiful setting just off the Thames River next to the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge.

This year Spirit has been selected to be one of the yachts featured – it will occur just before we take ownership and give Oyster’s commissioning team one last opportunity to insure everything is perfect as they sail her down from Ipswich and up the Thames, about an 84 nm transit. I guess you could call this Spirit’s coming out party after being in the build process for over 16 months. We’re ready!
