Details – that’s the story of Spirit’s progress over the last several weeks. While from a distance it doesn’t look like much has changed, on closer inspection all kinds of parts, equipment and wiring have been installed. We simply marvel at all the inner workings of this magnificent sailing machine, and how it’s all coming together. This past week we made our last of hundreds of decisions since last January, a really technical one – the throw cushions for the cockpit!
It’s time now to just look at the pictures, from the steps and swim ladder on the stern to the large seascape windows on the sides, from the companionway steps to the wiring behind the chart table, from the galley taking shape to the beginnings of a bunk cabin, from a big black box that will serve as data storage for the entertainment and onboard computer systems to an installed ice maker, and from the steering quadrant to a water separator – not pretty, but progress.
Now we can only continue to watch and count down the 198 days before we sail off to the Mediterranean. Life is good.
