It’s hard to believe…
20 months ago we contracted with Oyster to build a 575 yacht,14 months ago the build began, 10 months ago we first visited the Oyster facility in Wroxham, England and saw nothing more then a shell of a boat – a fiberglass hull. This past week we watched Spirit being moved on a large transport truck from Wroxham to Ipswich where she was lowered into the water, and finally, four days ago she was ceremoniously Christened the yacht Spirit. This has been one incredible journey and we can now look forward to many sailing adventures ahead!
As Spirit was getting ready to leave Wroxham, several of the folks who were responsible for her build came out to wish us well – their words filled with a sense of pride in what they had just built, a sense of pride well deserved. Upon arrival in Ipswich, the commissioning team took over – the final step in the process. From the mast to the rigging to all the final testing and sea trials – everyone on the Oyster team intensely focused on handing over a yacht that will meet the highest standards – we like that.
The pictures below tell the story of our most recent visit. Now, we wait out the 68 days until Spirit will be officially ours.
