When speaking with friends about the yacht Spirit’s build process the question always comes up – “where’s Wroxham”? Wroxham is a very small town in the eastern part of England, in the county of Norfolk, just northeast of Norwich. Its about 128 miles from London and 16 miles inland from the English Channel. This is just one of the places in England where Oyster Yachts performs its magic, and is doing so daily with Spirit. The pictures below were taken today.
Like the building of a house, there’ll be periods of incredibly rapid visual progress followed by periods where photos just can’t capture the work being accomplished. While the craftsmen are busy in Wroxham, we’ve been busy making decisions on fabrics, countertops, the dinghy, the gangway, colors for the spinnaker, and where to put foldable hooks in the cabins. Also, with the help of Diane Smith, an incredible graphic designer, we’ve finalized the font/logo for Spirit which will appear on the boom, the stern, the gangway, the side entry ladders and on the dinghy – not to mention shirts, hats and places we haven’t even thought about. Spirit will be alive and well.
